PT Graduation
June 1, 2023
When I unsteadily walked into Joint Pro Frankfort on June 3, 2021, I never imagined in my wildest dreams graduation day wouldn’t arrive until June 1, 2023.
After two years, I
- Don’t have to worry how far I park from the door
- Don’t make the staff nervous that I’m going to fall
- Impress senior citizen patients with my strength and balance
- Can speak in full sentences when I leave
- Have learned and relearned acceptance, vulnerability, humility, grace, and self-love
- Am in awe of and have unwavering respect for disabled people
- Have become part of the Joint Pro family
While I’m definitely not my pre-covid self, I’m far from the person who couldn’t stand for two minutes and whose brain couldn’t command her limbs to move. (See excerpt below describing my first days of PT) Colleen and her counterparts worked together tirelessly to find ways to help me overcome daunting symptoms and unfathomable deficits. Their kind smiles and words of encouragement kept me coming back even after I could barely make it to my car or drive home. They held me together on days I cried and wanted to quit. They celebrated each milestone regardless of how long it took me to reach it. The words in my brain pale in comparison to the gratefulness in my heart for the Joint Pro staff for helping me get my life back.
