Sue Poncin was at the top of her career as a high school educator, a leader in her department, and her school’s AP Calculus teacher, thriving on implementing innovative strategies she learned from presenters at national conferences with an eye on creating her own to become a presenter herself in the near future. Seemingly overnight, long COVID tore her out of her life as a concert going, traveling, Diet Coke chugging teacher, mom, and wife and turned her into someone who mimics MS, Parkinson's, and stroke patients.
Sue’s expertise in crafting story filled lessons and building relationships with students gives her voice an enticing demeanor to hook and captivate audiences. She takes readers on a journey into the dark and unbelievable reality of retraining her mind and body to function while becoming grateful for a new openness to accepting love and breaking a forty-year cycle of self-deprecation.
Sue currently lives in the south suburbs of Chicago with her husband and three girls. She is actively participating in the long COVID clinic at the University of Chicago, hoping to overcome her physical and cognitive deficits enabling her to return to her students in the near future.
